Recently published results of the analysis of the two largest studies of Plavix showed it permanent advantage in all categories of risk. The studies CURE and CAPRIE showed the advantage of Plavix in patients with low, medium and high risk of ischemic disorders.

CURE1 (Clopidgorel in Unstable Angina to Prevent Recurrent Events) study, conducted by the stratification of the risk factors of thrombosis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) and published in the journal Circulation3, found that Plavix (versus placebo) in combination with standard therapy that included aspirin, as shown in the study of CURE, always gave the best results in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) without ST segment elevation in the groups of low, medium or high risk.

Global sales growth of prescription drugs could be cut in half over the next five years as lucrative brands lose patent protection and cheaper generics and emerging markets become the only significant growth drivers, according to IMS Health “Past patterns of spending offer few clues about the level of expected growth through 2015,” said Murray Aitken, an IMS Health executive whose division conducted the study.
